A Fourteenth-Century Romance is the title of an essay written by J.R.R. Tolkien and published in the magazine Radio Times on 4 December 1953. The article consists of the foreword to Tolkien's translation of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, which was broadcast on the BBC Third Programme in 1953.[1]

It was reprinted in abbreviated form as the second part of the Introduction to Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Pearl, and Sir Orfeo.
