bereth is Sindarin for "queen, spouse" or "supreme, sublime".[1]

Etymology

From Primitive Quendian barathî.[1]

The early Noldorin explains it comes from root BARATH.[2]

Examples

Notes

It is unrelated to root BERÉTH ("beech, birch"). Also, it doesn't contain the feminine ending -eth.

Although Beleth is referred to as "Bereth" in Unfinished Tales, this was noted to be a mistake.[3]
