On 7 September 1937, J.R.R. Tolkien wrote a letter to George Allen & Unwin.^[1]

Contents: Tolkien writes to his publishers regarding the promotion of The Hobbit. Notable is Tolkien's description of his friend Wilfred Rowland Childe.

"[Wilfred Rowland Childe is] specially interested in elves and related creatures. He was (once at any rate) a fairly well-known poet, and is still a good one; and is in close touch with various literary and journalistic sets & folk, in the North specially. He would probably do something, if he got a copy. He saw the [manuscript] and is well disposed"
