Îbal was a boy who lived in the region of Númenor known as Emerië, near the White House of Erendis. He knew Ancalimë, the future Queen of the island, while she was still a girl dwelling in the White House. Îbal's father was Ulbar, who served the Great Captain Aldarion. It was Îbal's ambition to sail the Great Sea like his father, but we are never told whether he was able to realise this dream.

Etymology

Îbal's name appears to be Adûnaic, but its meaning is impossible to determine.

Notes

  1. We are told in "Aldarion and Erendis" that Îbal is older than Ancalimë.
