1965 - Robyn Malcolm, who would play Morwen in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, is born.
1981 - The second episode of the radio adaptation of The Lord of the Rings is aired on BBC Radio 4.
2009 - Arda Reconstructed: The Creation of the Published Silmarillion is published.

T.A. 2510:
- Borondir is on his way in search of the Éothéod.
T.A. 2941:
- Gandalf meets Thorin Oakenshield at the Prancing Pony, and they devise a plan to rid Erebor of Smaug.
T.A. 3019:
- In the early morning the Witch-king breaks the Gates of Minas Tirith.
- Denethor burns himself on a pyre. Faramir is rescued and brought to the Houses of Healing.
- The horns of the Rohirrim echo in the sides of Mindolluin at cockcrow.
- Battle of the Pelennor Fields:
  - Death of Theoden.
  - Aragorn arrrives on the battlefield and raises the standard of Arwen.
- Frodo and Samwise escape and begin their journey north along the Morgai.
- The Battle Under Trees in Mirkwood. Thranduil can drive the enemy from Dol Guldur back.
- Second assault on Lothlórien.
