- 1911 - J.R.R. Tolkien and several other cadets of King Edward's School's Officer Training Corpse line the route at the Coronation of George V. Tolkien stands near Buckingham Palace.
- 1920 - Voice acting legend Paul Frees, who would voice several characters in the Rankin/Bass movies, is born.
- 1932 - Prunella Scales, who would voice Ioreth in The Lord of the Rings (1955 radio series), is born.
