- 1931 - Fraser Kerr, who would voice Saruman in the 1978 animated version of The Lord of the Ring, is born.
- 1971 - Sean Astin, who would play Samwise Gamgee in The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy, is born.
- 2004 - The Two Towers Anthology is released by Decipher.
- 2005 - Max Schuchart, the first to translate The Lord of the Rings, dies.
