- 1940 - David Collings, who would voice the part of Legolas in the 1981 radio series of The Lord of the Rings, is born.
- 1966 - Author and linguist Arden R. Smith is born.
- 1991 - Olivia Tennet, who would play Freda in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, is born in Auckland, New Zealand.
