76 Sandfield Road in Headington was the home of J.R.R. Tolkien and Edith Tolkien from 30 March 1953 until mid-July 1968.[1] The volumes of The Lord of the Rings were first published while Tolkien lived in this house. Currently a plaque sits above the door stating that the Professor lived there once.

- Sandfield road is a bit out of the centre of Oxford Coming from High Street after the roundabout, head to Headington Road and turn halfway left to Hadley Way. You will have to look at the right side, just before the first roundabout.
