- 1964 - Guillermo del Toro, co-writer of the The Hobbit films, is born.
- 1968 - Video game writer František Fuka is born.
- 1979 - The Jackanory episode "Inside Information" is aired on the BBC.
- 1982 - The thirteenth - and final - episode of the new version of the 1981 radio series of The Lord of the Rings is aired on BBC Radio 4.
- 2004 - The Lord of the Rings Symphony in Chicago, IL, Auditorium Theatre.
