AR is an Elvish root meaning "beyond, further than".[1]

Derivatives

Other versions of the legendarium

In the Etymologies appears a different conception of the root AR: AR1 is a root which signifies "day" (cf. AS), while the derivatives of AR2 relate to "outsideness" (no exact signification is given for AR2, although the general sense seems to be somewhat retained for the root AR as given in Eldarin Roots and Stems).[2]
