Amaranth Brandybuck was a hobbit of the Shire and second child of Gorbadoc Brandybuck and Mirabella Took. Her older brother was Rorimac Brandybuck who was the grandfather of Merry Brandybuck. Her younger siblings were Saradas, Dodinas, Asphodel, Dinodas, and Primula, the mother of Frodo Baggins which makes Amaranth his aunt.
Etymology
"Amaranth" is a poetic name for a flower that does not fade, it is also the name of a plant with purple or crimson flowers.
