Aranuir (T.A. 2084 - 2247, died aged 165) was the third Chieftains of the Dúnedain, following the death of his father, Arahael, in 2177.

As far as we know, Aranuir's rule was uneventful. Aranuir died in 2247, after having been chieftain for seventy years, and was followed by his son, Aravir.

Etymology

Arahael's name is Sindarin, and although the etymology is uncertain, it probably means "Eternal King", coming from the prefix ara- meaning "king", and uir meaning "eternity".
