Aravorn (T.A. 2497 - 2654, died aged 157) was the ninth Chieftain of the Dúnedain, succeeding his father, Aragost, when he died in 2588.
Aravorn's rule seems to be uneventful - although small fights with orcs and wolves likely happened - as the enemy centred a lot of its attacks on the newly-formed Rohan.
Aravorn died in 2654, after having ruled as chieftain for 66 years, and was succeeded by his don, Arahad II
Aravorn's name is Sindarin, and it means "Black King" coming from the prefix ara- meaning "royal, king", and morn (becoming lenited to vorn) meaning "black, dark".
