Atanatar II (Q, pron. [aˈtanatar]; T.A. 977[1] – 1226, aged 249 years) was the sixteenth King of Gondor. He was known as Atanatar II Alcarin ("Glorious"; pron. [ˈalkarin]).[2]

History

He succeeded his father Hyarmendacil I in T.A. 1149 when Gondor had reached its greatest power and largest extent. Atanatar lived in ease and splendour, such that people said "precious stones are pebbles in Gondor for children to play with."
