Azaghâl was the king of the Broadbeam Dwarves of Belegost during the First Age. He was slain by the dragon Glaurung after stabbing him with a dagger in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad ("Battle of Unnumbered Tears") when the dragon had him pinned beneath his foot. The Dragon-helm of Dor-lómin was originally made for him by Telchar.

It is speculated that Azaghal's father or grandfather may have been the original father of the Broadbeam house, that's founder first awoke in the Years of the Trees.
