Banazîr is a Hobbitish name meaning "simple minded". It was sometimes shortened to Ban.

It was the first name of Ban Galpsi.[1]

Etymology

It comes from the Westron element ban(a) meaning "half" and zîr meaning "wise"

Translations

The name was translated as "Samwise", and Ban as Sam.
