Banks was a common Hobbit family name, found in the Shire and Bree. Known members of the family are Eglantine Banks, the mother of Peregrin Took,[1] and Willie Banks, a hobbit from Bree, who was killed in the battles against the strangers who attacked Bree early in T.A. 3019.[2] It is not known if the members of these families between the two regions are related.
