For the Baranor who lived in the First Age see Baranor son of Baran.

Baranor was a man of Gondor in the Third Age. He was the father of Beregond, a hero of the siege of Minas Tirith, and seems to have also dwelt in that city. Baranor's ancestors originally were from the vales of the White Mountains, most likely in Lossarnach. prior to that they lived in Ithilien. He had a relative named Iorlas, either his brother or his half-brother.

His name is an ancient one, dating back to the House of Bëor in the First Age.
