History

Beleg inherited the throne from his father, the founder of the kingdom, Amlaith of Fornost, in T.A. 946.

Beleg ruled Arthedain for eighty-three years, and was succeeded by his son Mallor upon his death in 1029.

Etymology

His name means "great' or "large", which may be a reference to his stature (although he may simply be named after the famous Elf of the First Age who shared this name, Beleg Strongbow).
