Sadly Benjamin James Lee died at the age of 22 on 4 May 2003, having led a remarkably full life considering he was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy when he was 6. Ben loved Tolkien's books and greatly enjoyed being a member of The Tolkien Society; he had a Labrador named Sam and a cairn terrier called Frodo. Among his artistic endeavours, he contributed a cover picture for the Amon Hen journal. He also wrote poetry, some of which was published in a Quaker journal. The Port of Bridgwater's new pilot-boat has been named the Ben Lee in remembrance of him.
