Bifur was a companion to Bilbo Baggins and Thorin Oakenshield on the Quest of Erebor. He arrived at Bag End in the company of his brother Bombur, and cousin Bofur. He fought and survived the Battle of Five Armies. Bifur was a descendent of Dwarves of Khazad-dum, but was not of Durin's line, which means that he was of either the house of the Firebeards or Broadbeams. Which most of the population of these two houses dwelt for all of the Second Age and the through the mid Third Age. It is possible that Bifur fought in the Battle of Dale during the War of the Ring.
