Bournemouth is a large town on the south coast of England. It was a place that J.R.R. Tolkien frequently visited for his holidays; staying in the same room at the Hotel Miramar, with a second room to write in. In the late 1960s Tolkien retired to nearby Poole with his wife to escape the attention of Oxford. Tolkien died in his home[source?] here in September 1973, and was buried in Oxfordshire.
