Bournemouth is a large town on the south coast of England. It was a place that J.R.R. Tolkien frequently visited for his holidays; staying in the same room at the Hotel Miramar, with a second room to write in. In the late 1960s Tolkien retired to the area with his wife. Tolkien died in his home here in September 1973, and was buried in Oxfordshire.
