The name Brandir refers to more than one character, item or concept. For a list of other meanings, see Brandir (disambiguation).

Brandir was a First Age lord of the Haladin who dwelt in the Forest of Brethil north of Doriath in the settlement of Ephel Brandir. He was born in First Age 467 to Handir and Beldis, a woman of the House of Bëor. He was lame, apparently from birth, which however did not prevent him from leading his people successfully in guerilla warfare against the Orcs.

When Túrin Turambar arrived in Brethil, Brandir was opposed to him and suspected he would bring misfortune on the community. Later Brandir also accepted Nienor, whom he secretly fell in love with.

During Túrin's foray to kill Glaurung, Brandir observed the drama from afar and overheard Glaurung telling Nienor who she really was. He reported this later to Túrin, who disbelieved him, insulting Brandir by calling him Club-foot, and killed him in anger.
