Calma is also the name in Quenya of the third letter of the Tengwar alphabet.[1] It is the third letter of the first grade or Tyellë, which contains "voiceless stops" and it is the first letter in the third series of consonants. For written Quenya or Sindarin, the third series is used for the k-series, the Calmatéma and Calma represents K or "hard" C. In Westron the third series is used for a variety of consonantal sounds and this letter represents CH as in "church".[2] The Westron name for this letter is Ché.[3]
