Celandine Brandybuck was the third and youngest child of Seredic Brandybuck and Hilda Bracegirdle.

History[edit | edit source]

Celandine was descended from the line of the Masters of the Hall of Buckland: specifically, from Gorbadoc Brandybuck. Along with her parents and her brothers Doderic and Ilberic, she was present at Bilbo's Farewell Party.[1]

Etymology[edit | edit source]

Celandine is the name of three different flowers (two poppies and one buttercup). The name derives from the Greek, via Latin, χελιδώνι (chelidoni) meaning "swallow".

Portrayals in adaptations[edit | edit source]

2007: The Lord of the Rings Online:

In the beginning of the game, Celandine and Mundo Sackville-Baggins are captured by Blackwold brigands. They are then rescued by Aragorn and taken to the village of Archet where he leaves them with the player. After an assault on Archet by the Blackwolds, she returns home to Newbury in Buckland.
