celeb is a Sindarin word meaning "silver".[1][2][3]

In the early pre-cursors of Sindarin (the languages Noldorin and Gnomish), celeb also signified "silver".[4][5]

Other forms of the word include Noldorin celebren ("of silver"[4] or "like silver"[6]) and Sindarin celebrin ("like silver").[3] Didier Willis has suggested that the Noldorin form celevon means "of silver".[7][4]
