Déorwine was the Chief of the King's Riders during the War of the Ring.

History

Déorwine replaced Háma in the post when the latter was killed at Helm's Deep. He and six of the men under his command (Harding, Guthláf, Herefara, Herubrand, Horn and Fastred) were slain at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields.[1]

Etymology

The name Déorwine probably means "brave-friend" in Old English, consisting of dēor ("brave, bold (as a wild beast)" + wine ("friend").[2]
