Elboron was the second Prince of Ithilien, and Steward of Gondor.
History[edit | edit source]
Elboron was the son of Faramir and Éowyn.[2] Upon his father's death in Fo.A. 82,[3] he became the second Prince of Ithilien and the Steward of Gondor.[note 1][2][4]
Elboron was either the father or uncle of Barahir, the grandson of Faramir who wrote The Tale of Aragorn and Arwen.[1]
Etymology[edit | edit source]
Elboron may mean "Enduring Star", from elen ("star") and boron ("long-lasting, enduring").

Notes[edit source]
- ↑ In the family tree titled "The Line of Dol Amroth" in the Peoples of Middle-earth, under Elboron's name appears the description "Second Prince" affirming his succession to the princedom. Because Aragorn announced at his crowning that the office would remain hereditary, Elboron also succeeded Faramir as Steward of Gondor.
