History
Elfwine was the son of King Éomer of Rohan and Lothíriel of Dol Amroth.[1] He was said to bear a striking likeness to his maternal grandfather, Imrahil, Prince of Dol Amroth.[2]
Etymology
Elfwine means "Elf-friend" in Old English and is a translation of the Quenya name Elendil. Also, it is a reference to the earlier character of Tolkien's legendarium, Ælfwine of England.
