Elwë Singollo (Q, pron. [ˈelwe siŋˈɡolːo]) or Sindicollo (pron. [ˌsindiˈkolːo]) was the ancient name of King Thingol; when he settled in Doriath with Melian, he took the Sindarin form of his name, Elu Thingol.
The Vanyar called his surname Þindicollo (pron. [ˌθindiˈkolːo]).
Etymology
The name means "star-man" and contains el and -we.
His actual name during the Great March should be *Elwego (cf. -wego)
