Elwë Singollo (Q, pron. [ˈelwe siŋˈɡolːo]) or Sindicollo (pron. [ˌsindiˈkolːo]) was the ancient name of King Thingol; when he settled in Doriath with Melian, he took the Sindarin form of his name, Elu Thingol.

The Vanyar called his surname Þindicollo (pron. [ˌθindiˈkolːo]).

Etymology

The name means "star-man" and contains el and -we.

His actual name during the Great March should be *Elwego (cf. -wego)
