Emyn Muil was the range of hills that massed on either side of the Anduin above the inflow of the Entwash. At one time they marked the northern borders of Gondor; Frodo and Sam crossed them on their journey to Mordor.[1][2]

Etymology

Emyn Muil is a Sindarin name meaning "the drear hills"; the word emyn is the plural form of amon ("hill").[3]
