Erling (b. T.A. 2854) was a working-class[source?] Hobbit, the third child of Holman the greenhanded
Etymology
Old English eorling means "descendant of an earl (noble)".[1] It is the same word as Eorlingas but it doesn't refer to Eorl the Young.
