Erling was a Hobbit of the Shire.
History
Erling was the middle child of Holman the greenhanded, born in S.R. 1254.[1]
Etymology
Old English eorling means "descendant of an earl (noble)".[2] It is the same word as Eorlingas but it doesn't refer to Eorl the Young.
