Estella Bolger

The sister of Fredegar 'Fatty' Bolger, Estella married Merry Brandybuck some time after his return from the War of the Ring. Almost nothing is known about her apart from her date of birth: 1385 by the Shire-reckoning.

Estella was a very late addition to the canon. So late, in fact, that Tolkien did not include her in Merry's genealogy until after the First Edition of The Lord of the Rings had been published. This late change took many years to be incorporated in all versions of the book, so that many extant copies are missing Estella's name altogether.
