Faramir Took I was the thirty-third Thain of the Shire, the twentieth of the Took line.

History

Faramir was the son of Thain Peregrin Took I and Diamond of Long Cleeve.[1] He was named after Faramir, the Prince of Ithilien in Gondor far South, a good friend of his father. In S.R. 1463 he married Goldilocks Gardner, the third daughter of Samwise Gamgee. He succeeded his father when Peregrin relocated to Gondor in S.R. 1484.[2]

Etymology

Faramir is a Sindarin name Meaning 'jewel hunter', Faramir I was named after Faramir who Pippin Took, Faramir I's father saved.
