Faramir was the son of Thain Peregrin Took I and Diamond of Long Cleeve. He was named after Faramir, the Prince of Ithilien in Gondor far South, a good friend of his father. In S.R. 1463 he married Goldilocks Gardner, the third daughter of Samwise Gamgee. He succeeded his father when Peregrin relocated to Gondor in S.R. 1484.
