History

Ferumbras presumably lived in the first millennium of the Shire Reckoning. No record of his name exist, but Ferumbras II, the twelfth Thain, was named after him.[1]

Etymology

Ferumbras is a name from the legends of Roland, a corruption of Frankish fier à bras, "brave arm".
