First Age 473 (abbreviated to F.A. 473) is the 473rd year of the Sun of the First Age of Middle-earth.

- Morgoth sends a force to Brithombar and Eglarest which are subsequently destroyed, and Barad Nimras is cast down.[2]
- Círdan, Gil-galad and other survivors retreat to the Isle of Balar but keep a base at the Mouths of Sirion.[3]
- Círdan builds seven ships and Turgon sends them Valinor to ask for help. All are lost save Voronwë, who is washed ashore in Nevrast.[2]
