Tolkien labeled/chronicled Middle Earth through Ages(F.A.,S.A.,T.A., Years of the Trees, etc.) How long is an age? How many mortal years make up F.A., etc. and the Years of the Trees? Unsigned comment by Breragor (talk • contribs).

"Age" is not a standard unit of time. A new Age starts, well, when the last one's over. The First Age lasted some 590 years, the Second 3441, and the Third 3021. See here for more info. -- Ederchil (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 20:29, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
Who decides when an age ends/begins?A good day to me, is waking up in Middle Earth! 04:08, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
The chroniclers, the politicians, and history itself. They pretty much all end with a cataclysmic war, one that we today would describe at a "World War" - the War of Wrath, the War of the Last Alliance, and the War of the Ring in this case, though the Fourth Age started two years after the passing of the Ring. -- Ederchil (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 21:16, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
