I noticed something unusual about the articles for Aragorn II and Eldarion—the bio template used is Template:gondorian.

Though Aragorn inherited the throne of Gondor, he was not a Gondorian, instead being from the Dúnedain of the North, descended from Arnor. One might say he was an Arnorian, but Arnor had ceased to exist by his time. And even though he re-established the Reunited Kingdom at Gondor, he did not remain there all the time, and spent much of his time in rebuilt Annúminas as well. It would seem simpler to call him a Dúnadan in ethnicity, albeit it a stateless one until his rule.

Then there's the subject of Eldarion. Was he actually born in Gondor? I mean, there is a strong possibility he was, but he inherited not Gondor alone, but the entire Reunited Kingdom, and almost certainly spent time in both Gondor and in Annúminas, perhaps even ruling from Annúminas (though this is far from certain). Since Eldarion is symbolic of the reestablishment of royal Dúnedain, shouldn't he be classified as a Dúnadan instead of as a Gondorian?

Either way, the gondorian template seems inadequate for these people. There's also the people of Arnor who don't seem to have a special Template:arnorian. And miscellaneous Dúnedain don't have a special Template:dunadan. The point is, with the various divisions that had come among the Dúnedain, either they are all Dúnedain, or they are split amongst their divisions (including Gondorian).

I'm only raising this issue because I'm wary of fiddling with the bio templates. I'm sure some other editor here put their good effort to their coding, and knows them better than me. - Gilgamesh 07:43, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
