::The Men of Esgaroth are definitely related to the Rohirrim, the Esgarothians (my word) were related to the Northmen, from whom are descended the Rohirrim (Unfinished Tales, "Cirion and Eorl"). The Esgarothians traded with dwarves. [[User:Eldorion]] | |||
::I sometimes think Middle-earth as seen in LotR is almost post-apocalyptic. The people we encounter are without exception tiny remnants of larger kingdoms (Arnor, Gondor, Rhovanion, etc.) living in isolated refuges which seemingly only interact through adventurers like Bilbo. There were many reasons why much of Middle-earth is empty. Wars depopulated much of Eriador and (I believe) the area around Dale. The Plague also killed many, many people all over Northwest Middle-earth. There are still plenty of people around though, there are just also empty areas.[[User:Eldorion|Eldorion]] | |||
