Tolkien Gateway > Council > My Necromancer of Dol Goldur Article

I am having trouble with understanding where to write what in terms of comments or questions about what others may think an article needs in terms of sources, what can be taken as a given (and common knowledge) and what will need a specific source (and if specific sources need a page #, and paragraph section).

So, how do I go about soliciting help on an article, and what is considered appropriate and what is not appropriate for any article?

For instance, in the Necromancer of Dol Goldur article, I have included some speculation and questions about exactly what the assault upon Dol Goldur was.

Was it just a small battle between the powers of the Ishtari and a few elves, or did it involve armies of undead and allied troops from the East and the Misty Mountains (Orcs)?

Would the Easterlings whom Sauron had fled to twice have contributed to its defense?

Why exactly did Sauron get the name of The Necromancer?

And so on.

Some of these I pose as actual questions, and others I use as postulates for how it may have been possible for Sauron to have managed to gain the power to oppose Galadriel in Lothlorien.

I am hoping to eventually create a fan-fiction account in the manner of ancient historians such as Josephus, Polybios, Thucydides, Plutarch, Herodotus, (and so on) of the various wars and battles in the Second and Third Ages. In doing this, I would like to get all that is within the canon on the Necromancer and Dol Goldur (not to mention the other major episodes in the military history of Middle-Earth.
