::Glad it worked, people with older versions of Flash might have some difficulties but hopefully they'll be able to download the latest without much of an issue. I was looking at some statistics and we Tolkien geeks seem to be rather tech-savy as well, over 40% of the visitors use Firefox so hopefully the same can be said for Flash. I honestly can't remember where the particular video came from as the file had the wonderfully descriptive name of 'lotr2', sorry. I think before we allow people to embed the video in their websites we need some sort of 'TG' logo where the blackness is at the moment. A lot of sites add lengthy 'intros' to all their videos but I'm going to stay away from that for the same reason we don't put watermarks on images, it detracts for the content/art. --[[User:Hyarion|Hyarion]] 01:03, 2 September 2006 (EDT)

Still under development and I'll update here with changes. While we have quite a bit of disk space/bandwidth I don't want to overdo it and become YouTube. The wiki should still focus on textual content but I think a few videos spread throughout will be nice. Currently however the only playable files are .flv's, meaning we'll have to convert .avi, .mov, .wmv, etc. YouTube/Google convert these dynamically upon upload to their server but that requires quite a bit of resources, something I don't want to waste the server on at the moment. So only .flv uploads will be allowed. Of course editors are welcome to email me their files and I'll convert them and upload them. I think we need to be a bit stricter regarding regulations with video content and only with the permission of the creator can files be uploaded. (I'll most likely be taking this one down as it was one I was just playing around with) Any video that for instance lordoftherings.net makes available sounds fair game to me though. If the videos don't take up too much bandwidth I plan on allowing people to embed the videos into their blogs/sites/etc. What do you guys think? --Hyarion 21:39, 31 August 2006 (EDT)
