Gabilān is the Khuzdul name for the river Sirion.[1]

It probably means "Great River".Template:Or

Etymology

The word obviously contains the word gabil "great".Template:Or

The unattested element ân is perhaps a word meaning "river" or just a nominal ending[1] (eg. "Great One").Template:Or
