galadh (or galað) is a Sindarin noun for "tree". Although similar to Silvan galad ("tree"), it should not be confused with Sindarin galad ("radiance").[1][2][3] A galadh signified a "more thick, dense & branching" tree, like oaks and beeches (compare orn "tall tree", e.g. birch and ash).[3]

Etymology

From Primitive Quendian galadā, derived from root GALA.[3]
