Games Workshop is a British game production and retailing company, founded in 1975. One of its key products is the Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game, along with its more popular titles, Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000

History of Tolkienia

Games Workshop's magazine White Dwarf (founded in 1977) has featured much material related to game adaptations of J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth.

In 1985, Games Workshop introduced the MERP-system in the UK by publishing Middle-earth, The Role-playing Game set in J.R.R. Tolkien's World.

In 2001, Games Workshop introduced the Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game, a miniature game based on The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy.

In 2005 was released the board game The Battle of Five Armies, based on the events of the Battle of Five Armies from The Hobbit.
