gwaith or gweith is a noun meaning "manhood" in Sindarin. The meaning is often extended to mean "brotherhood, regiment, host, people".
- Forodwaith = "People of the North"
- Gwaith-i-Mírdain = "Brotherhood of Jewel-smiths"
The suffix also is used to denote land, perhaps associated to the name of its people
